Don't Rush It

Today was a real eyeopener adventure for me.  My roommate and I took the morning and slept in but when afternoon came around we decided we wanted to go on an adventure!  That's what Saturdays are for anyway right?
We went to explore various sites in Nine Mile Canyon, beginning in Wellington, Utah.  We stopped and got gas and picked up multiple brochures.  When we started out, it was simply an adventure.  The music was cranked up loud and we were singing along.  The first site we wanted to see was about 26 miles into the canyon.  As we drove along I noticed how BEAUTIFUL the scenery really was.  It was completely indescribable.  I have lived in Carbon County for 5 months now and driven part of Nine Mile 3 times.  The scenery never gets old.  Today though, was something different.  The way I saw it was different.
The mountains were amazing. The way that the snow was spread across them but the green trees were still poking through, it was just so pretty.  How can one drive or walk through this beautiful, beautiful world and say that God does not exist.  He is BY FAR the most amazing artist and we get to enjoy his artwork daily.  Soon after, we passed small log homes that had been there for so long they were falling down.  This led me to think about the people that had perviously lived in this canyon.
Who were these people?  What stories did they have to tell?  At this point we reached our first site and there were petroglyphs to look at.  This was how natives communicated.  It was so amazing to see!  I can't even begin to wrap my head around their understanding of symbols and pictures.  They were able to share stories with each other and others that came by these walls days, months or years later.  HOW COOL?!
There is so much to be learned about the past generations and who they were.  There is so much to be learned in our own families and who our ancestors were.  There is a huge world around us to learn about and there is history in our very own towns just waiting to be discovered.  There is nothing more amazing than the world we live in.
Today's world is always in such a rush and we forget to enjoy the small things.  Why do we have to hurry through our days?  Why can't we just slow down and thank God for such an amazing place to live?  Sometimes I think we take for granted what we are so lucky to have.  So I challenge you all to spend a few hours and take a drive, a walk, a hike, whatever it may be to enjoy the world.  Stop rushing through life and missing what's really important.  Spend more time with your family, take care of yourself and find time for what really matters.
   Have a great day!
